After an online competition that spanned the first two weeks of June, Democracy for America selected SPA Executive Director Aaron Voldman to receive one of 40 scholarships granted to bold activists to attend the Netroots Nation Conference.
After over 200,00 votes, Kevin Sanchez was selected as one of three contestants to speak about the youth PROMISE Act at the Campus Progress national conference. Over 1000 youth will be present to hear Kevin. Thanks to everyone in our network voting!

On May 13, the Los Angeles Sentinel ran an open letter written by Ms. Pat Hendricks Munson , whose son Dwayne was shot to death on May 1st - an unnecessary victim of ongoing violence within his community. Ms. Munson’s open letter pleads us, and our leaders, to stand up against the preventable conditions that promote violence. The Youth PROMISE Act represents a positive step in this direction.

The Student Peace Alliance National Conference, held recently at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX took years to evolve from a bold idea into a reality.
