Peace Alliance aims to cure Islamophobia

Anti-Islamophobia Week grew out of students' concern over the mistreatment of Muslims in America. Katie Wilson, junior, explains that "For the week, we're aiming at respectful dialogue and relationships between people and situations that we might not understand." On Tuesday, March 15, the Student Peace Alliance hosted an event giving two local Muslims the opportunity to discuss how their lives have been changed since the events of September 11, 2001 and address some of the common misconceptions about the religion of Islam.

Momentum Builds After September Actions

Across America more than 3,500 people attended Ben & Jerry's Youth PROMISE Act events, learned about the Youth PROMISE Act, and took action to advance the legislation. Scooping free Ben & Jerry's ice cream turned out to be a really great way to motivate people to come learn about Youth PROMISE Act and take action! We are grateful to Ben & Jerry's for working with us to make these events a success.

Aaron Wins Netroots Nation Contest

A Mother's Plea; Why We NEED the Youth PROMISE Act

mothers-plea-sm On May 13, the Los Angeles Sentinel ran an open letter written by Ms. Pat Hendricks Munson , whose son Dwayne was shot to death on May 1st - an unnecessary victim of ongoing violence within his community. Ms. Munson’s open letter pleads us, and our leaders, to stand up against the preventable conditions that promote violence. The Youth PROMISE Act represents a positive step in this direction.

Kevin Sanchez Wins Campus Progress Contest

After over 200,00 votes, Kevin Sanchez was selected as one of three contestants to speak about the youth PROMISE Act at the Campus Progress national conference. Over 1000 youth will be present to hear Kevin. Thanks to everyone in our network voting!
